Biography

Professor Martin Wagenmann is Head of Rhinology, Allergy, and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery, Head of the Scientific Laboratory in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, and Vice Chair of the Interdisciplinary University Allergy Center at University Hospital of Düsseldorf.


Professor Wagenmann obtained his medical degree from Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg in 1990 and a doctoral degree from the University Heidelberg-Mannheim in 1991. Following a post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins Asthma & Allergy Center in 1992, he completed his residency in otorhinolaryngology at University Hospital of Düsseldorf in 1997, achieving board certification as an ENT specialist. He subsequently gained additional certifications in allergy in 2002 and plastic surgery in 2005. He also completed his habilitation in 2003.


Professor Wagenmann's main scientific expertise encompasses clinical and immunological aspects of allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis, allergen immunotherapy, and mechanisms of head and neck cancer. He has been involved in over 20 phase II, III, and IV clinical studies as principal investigator, investigator, or sub-investigator since 1990. He has authored 194 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals (sum of impact factor: 782.2; h-index: 57), contributed to 7 book chapters, and delivered more than 500 scientific lectures at regional and international meetings. He has coordinated and co-authored several national and international clinical guidelines and serves on the editorial boards of multiple scientific journals.


Professor Wagenmann is Vice-President of the German Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (DGAKI). He is also an active member of the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), the European Rhinologic Society, and the German Society of Skull Base Surgery.
